Bye Bye Kieran Richardson

Posted by Sharath Ciddu on July 17, 2007

The Bentley boy Richardson left Old Trafford with Stadium of Light providing the ray of hope to resurrect his career. It remains to see if he can make justice to his talent, which was never a doubt (well both extremes indeed 😀 ). Its the application that lacks and also the presence of mind, which he appeared to have always left in the Bentley back home. He definitely had a good spell at West Brom which was responsible to his England call up, but since his return to Old Trafford, except “that”goal against Charlton (the first video when you scroll down), he has been nothing short of pathetic. He is premiership quality no doubt. But unlike the man he was supposed to replace, Ryan Giggs who is a world beater, this Big Brother cannot survive in a big team. He is erratic at delivering the set pieces, cannot pass the ball to people who are in better positions, and with luck at his side would sent the ball to the back of the net at times.

It is surprising to see someone pay £5.5 million for him, though he can be a big fish in a small pond (no offense to West Brom or Sunderland here). This effectively means that United has bought Giggsy’s replacement in Nani for 7-10 million pounds which is pretty cool, considering that Nani is being touted as the next Ronaldo.

Thank you Richardson for all the better things you have done for United (Excuse me if you cannot find anything other than the price he was sold for), and we wish you all the best for your career under the man who has blasted you a year and a half back. Between, I think this is the best piece of business by Sir Alex ever, even beating the Cantona’s, Schmeichel’s and Keano’s.

Shoot it like Wayne

Posted by Sharath Ciddu on July 4, 2007

The 21 year old Red Devil who has just switched to the jersey number 10 and would lead the attack has said about his hunger for more success. In his own words

“It’s just not just about winning the odd trophy. It’s about winning them all the time. The [current] players know their role in keeping up the club’s amazing history and success. Players in the past have set the standard: now we’ve got to carry it on.”

Well if you can shoot as accurately as in the video, we are sure you will win them all Wayne. Best of luck!!

Copa America – Anderson against Mexico

Posted by Sharath Ciddu on June 29, 2007

I woke up early in the morning eager to watch Anderson in action against Mexico. But Dunga made me wait till half time to help Manchester United successfully get their work permit appeal for Anderson.

Much has been said about this young talent, drawing comparisions with the mercurial Ronaldhino. The talent is definitely there but it is raw and has to be honed. Now that he has got the workpermit SAF can take care about moulding him into a worldclass player. He loves to run at defenders and dribble past them. But he has to develop a sense of awareness of the players around him and learn the art of passing. Training alongside pass masters Scholesy and Carrick would definitely help him. In this game his passing was at times awful, but we forgive him for that amazing cross to Afonso Alves, which could have been converted to a goal.

Send Dong on loan

Posted by Sharath Ciddu on June 24, 2007

Dong Fangzhou – A player who sacrificed two and a half years before he could get a work permit and play in England. Everyone knows that his signing is a stunt by United to capture the Chinese market. Many fans dont want him to play for United. The site understands that. Part of that is because no one have ever seen how he played for Royal Antwerp. The following video illustrates that he is decently athletic and has a decent shot. He should be loaned to some premiership club or championship club to see how he can really fare. Loaning out in England has helped with Foster, Evans, Bardsley and Simpson. He might be moulded into a decent striker who when returns to United can sit on the bench whenever required, play in the cups and otherwise help the reserves, only with more confidence.
