Copa America – Anderson against Mexico
Posted by Red Devil on June 29, 2007
I woke up early in the morning eager to watch Anderson in action against Mexico. But Dunga made me wait till half time to help Manchester United successfully get their work permit appeal for Anderson.
Much has been said about this young talent, drawing comparisions with the mercurial Ronaldhino. The talent is definitely there but it is raw and has to be honed. Now that he has got the workpermit SAF can take care about moulding him into a worldclass player. He loves to run at defenders and dribble past them. But he has to develop a sense of awareness of the players around him and learn the art of passing. Training alongside pass masters Scholesy and Carrick would definitely help him. In this game his passing was at times awful, but we forgive him for that amazing cross to Afonso Alves, which could have been converted to a goal.
His fitness level also has to be improved. Probably he hasnt yet fully recovered from the knock he has picked in his last match for Porto. In the match he had 3 shots, one was just wide, one was superbly deflected away by Marquez and another was awful.
Overall a decent match for the youngster. But dont expect fireworks straight away from him. Definitely Giggsy and Scholesy will start ahead of this youngster who will learn more from training and coming off the bench.
You can catch glimpses of Anderson’s shots on goal and the superb pass to Afonso Alves in this video
